A Buckeye and Bee Break from Winter

These were taken in late September.
Buckeye Butterfly and Bees - Anyone know what these wildflowers are? They grew alongside the pond this fall.
Update: Thanks to Laura at ForestWalkArt - these are Western Ironweed
Correction: Per PortraitsOfWildflowers - this is Marsh Fleabane
Had to Google each to compare and and based on less 'fuzzy' blooms, I'd agree with Marsh Fleabane.
Only one of my Texas Wildflower sites showed the Western Ironweed. None of them showed Marsh Fleabane.
Glad we have good blog readers out there!

See the bee butt?

"Incoming!"
"Outgoing!"

I've got one more round of these beauties saved. I'll pull them out if you need another break in frozen February. :)

Bee butt. Lol.

I wish we had more of these butterflies in Nebraska. Gorgeous colors!

Gorgeous photos!! Quite a nice break from the snow and freezing temps we're having right now.
Those flowers look like the dried ones you see in arrangments - maybe a statice of some type...??

Sandra said...

these are really beautiful, my favorite is the incoming.. that bee looks like he found a flying flower to land on. sharing the pollen...

A treat to remember color, butterflies and bees in my world of white . . . Beautuful photo captures, incoming, outgoing and stunning colors in the butterfly. Very nice!

i LOVE the buckeye!! one of my favorite butterflies that we have over here too! beautiful shots!!

the wildflowers look a little like the blue mist...which aren't really blue...but more purplish, and they grow like crazy...the flowers are small & fluffy-ish.

That is a beautiful flutter.

I think they're a cross between 'ironweed' 'bluemist' and
'purple milkweed'. It's like singing along with a favorite song, everyone has their own arrangement (pun intended).

'snicker'.....just teasing.

what ever they are they're beautiful along with the solace the resting 'buckeye' and the bees butt, the in-coming, nice pic.

Gracias for sharing mi amiga.

I enjoyed this

It took me a minute and then I saw the bee butt and wings too! Beautifully colored flowers and butterflies this Sunday morning Tex! Very nice to see as winter keeps dragging along with a dreary kind of attitude. Nice treat, start my Sunday with a smile.

I'm one who never tires of winter, but a little touch of colorful nature is always welcome. The ironweed that grows in KY is a dark purple and more upright bloom. Ironweed and goldenrod a favorite fall bouquet, if your nose can stand it.

Sadly I found neither the bee's butt or its knees. . .
