WOW! I love the "swampiness" of this one!! Though I well know it was not a swamp... looks as if it could have come straight out of the Louisiana bayous. ;) blessings ~tanna
W pierwszej chwili nie zauważyłam żółwia, tylko ptaka. Mam ich jednak obu dwóch. Bardzo mi się ta para podoba. Pozdrawiam. At first I did not see a turtle, but a bird. However, they both have two. I really like this couple. Yours.
Hi Teresa...I think Herons and Turtles have one thing in common, they can just stay in one spot for the longest time, and not move ..just mindless looking! ; ) Grace
That's a great two for one capture! I probably would have noticed the heron when I was taking the picture but not notice the turtle until after I took it! lol
This post had me googling to see if herons eat turtles, and indeed, they do! I even found a video of a heron eating a duck (but didn't watch it :) I like to think your heron and turtle are friends :)
Two of natures's gifts ignoring each other and just going about their own business. I am wondering if they eat the algae. There is certainly enough to go around. genie

What a great capture!
Beautifully caught!
I think there must be a story here somewhere.
Wow, how neat is that capturing both in a picture, Blessings Francine.
A nice pair!
Sou Beautiful birds photos.
LOVE this!
Lovely scene! I always thought the Hare and the Tortoise was getting a little long in the tooth.
Morning Tex I love this. I love turtles and herons and like how they just hang out. Hug B
Cool shot
oh oh, it's a stand-off!

the algae is unreal .. it seems amazing to me that the log he's on can float in that
Okay, so I didn't actually read the title to your last post "Meadowlark".
I was tired. Lol. What a doofus.
Well???? I'm waiting for a fable to go with that intro!
Great shot, love to see them both!
Looks like someone is eyeing up some lunch.
I like this. Isn't it amazing all of the creatures about....we just need to be still and look for them.
You always make me say ahhhh first thing in the morning when I look at your latest post. :-)
there is a lot in this photo, i love all the different textures...
Fall! I am ready to do fall all over again.. :)

We agree with Kathy. There must be a story there. Have a wonderful Wednesday. Best wishes Molly
The Heron and the Turtle, sounds like there should be a story book there. Nice catch.
Lovely shot!
That would make a nice painting or drawing!
I too think is sounds like a story. The wise old turtle telling the heron not to go too far in the swamp. Blessings from Wisconsin.
We have some turtles here that sometimes sun themselves on the hill...gotta try to get a shot of them. Love the heron
It took me a second to notice the turtle in the background!
Two in one. Great spotting!
Sounds like a missing Aesop's Fable
Great shot.....I posted an eagle for you!
The heron looks grumpy!
You even got a turtle in the picture ;)
A beautiful heron.
Heron discovered the turtle.
Great photo!

Hello Theresa,
Nice shot!! Funny to see both animals by each other.
The heron thinks, could I eat him or not...?!
Many greetings,
Marco
Wow! What a cool photo! How awesome to capture them both at the same time!!
What a cute pair! (Our water gets gunky like that, too.)
Wonderful shot!
Great shot, turtle kinda blends into the background.
Love it!
xoxo
The turtle and the bird seem to get along fine.
The Run*A*Round Ranch swamp. You need to add a gator now.
The pond is an oasis for the birds nad other wildlife. Nice photos
That's a great two for one capture! I probably would have noticed the heron when I was taking the picture but not notice the turtle until after I took it! lol
Beautiful heron, I would have missed the turtle though were it not for the title. You get quite a variety of critters down at the pond.
The heron looks so majestic! Beautiful shot!
Bhusha's INDIA TRAVELOGUE
That's awesome! They almost appear to be in a mini stand off!
Cool photo. We might have had some water that looked like that at our pond this summer. :)
I like the distressed wood in the background too!
mooie combinatie ze gaan toch ieder hun eigen gang.
They do make quite an interesting pair -- the epitome of long and short legs!!
What a great shot! The heron is so stately - I love seeing them!
Beautiful bird!
That's nice getting two subjects in one shot, both sitting still!
Beautiful. Always love your bird photos. Not many birds around the feeders this winter here for some reason. And a heron would be a big surprise. LOL
Nicely seen and captured!
This post had me googling to see if herons eat turtles, and indeed, they do! I even found a video of a heron eating a duck (but didn't watch it :) I like to think your heron and turtle are friends :)
coexisting :-)
What a delightful pair you've captured!
"Why can't we be friends"!! I just wanted to let you know that my dark cloud has darkened. I can't send or receive emails ;(
Some folks on facebook (the only connection I have with the outside world) are saying there are problems with hotmail!
To say that I am dying here, would be an understatement!!!
Would you believe I saw a great blue heron here on New Years Eve. Well, I wouldn't have believed it either...but I really did!
Laughing at your gunky in parenthesis. Just be glad it's not your swimming pool looking like that. Great shot!
T, great shot!
That really sounds alright, "the heron and turtle", it sounds like it was kiddies book.
She seems be cold
Herons seem to love hanging out with turtles on the lake I frequent!...:)JP
The heron is thinking "Must be something I said..."
I find it so exiting that you have turtles in your pond!! So great :)
neat outdoors image; good to pick them both up at the same time
I love your pond....herons are so beautiful
When you say from last fall, it sounds like a long time ago.

Such a charming photograph. Magical.
That is like the story of the tortoise and the hare. The heron and the turtle!
Very good photo, good colors and the angle its very clever!
Nicely done. I think herons are fascinating to watch.
Well they are an odd couple. Great shot!
and they're both ignoring each other!
Breakfast?
Two of natures's gifts ignoring each other and just going about their own business. I am wondering if they eat the algae. There is certainly enough to go around. genie
I love that picture.
One shot post that stands alone. Great job. It appears the turtle is making his get away before being attached.
A beautiful portrait of the GBH and a bonus turtle! Love it!
Fantastic! Love it!
Dearest Theresa,
Lovely photo from your pond residents!
Hugs,
Mariette
Maybe the heron is filling in for the hare and they are planning a race. A fun photo!
That is such a cool picture. I love it!
Nice shot.
A modern day fable, "The Tortoise and the Heron?"
Right away I though there could be a story here too!
I think they are friends.
Nicely done!
I'll bet he found some food under that gunk!
Definitely a story there!
I agree - put on your story hat Theresa! :)
Great capture!
Once again, this image could be a watercolour...really lovely in elements and colouration~
Love your heron. How wonderful to be able to see so much wild life at the pond. Hope you have a wonderful New Year.
Very gunky. Finding the turtle is a challenge in his camo;)

If we look, really look we might see a heron and turtle today. Thank you for sharing all you see!
cute couples!
love that tiny turtle
Ah, ok, I see the turtle, now, didn't see the lil guy at first.
Thank you, TWG! =)
Sorry I'm late (again)!!! Unusual to get a two in one shot! I wonder do Herons ever try to eat turtles?
GREAT photo! "The Heron and the Turtle." It sounds like the name of a children's book...
One of my favorite birds! They are so dignified.
Such a pretty scene!
I like it even with the gunk! :)
Just hanging out together. :P
Great shot of great blue heron in that scenery.
What a wonderful shot, Theresa!!
Wonderful photo!
Two of my favorite beings doing their slow-paced thing!
