Good Morning Tex! My hair looks like that and I don't even have to be angry! Love to see the visitors to your pond!!
Isn't he the fearsome gent; and his angry bristle brush is impressive indeed! Thanks for the timely reminder of summer's warmth.
How interesting to see such a big bird around your pond.
I don't remember seeing this particular Heron on your blog before! It's certainly a new bird for me.Good captures!
Great shots and I love his yellow crown! :)
The Night herons are cool birds. You do have some nice birds at your pond. Great shots!
I love the way you captured the heron and his reflection!
He's just great! Suzy x
I love learning the names of the birds I enjoy! blessings ~ tanna
Amazing how the crane blends in with the surrounding area. You had to hold so still to not scare him!! Very nice shots!!
All great photos of a magnificent bird.
I thought maybe a wind gust had ruffled his feathers...until he gave you that dirty look. :)
Yep we agree his feathers were ruffled. Have a super Saturday.Best wishes Molly
I like the colour. Yes that ruffled look sort of what we look like in the morning with our hair. Atleast mine.Excellent shots!
I love herons!! They're so elusive to see around here though.
Ooh, he's purty! Love the ones of him fluffed up, or bristled as you put it. This is one bird that I have not seen in Louisiana yet but I'd see them frequently in Texas.
he is a beauty, scrub brush and all. do your dogs bark at all these birds? we had an egret in our yard yesterday and it was eating and huffing and baby barked until i threatened to debark her.
I need to look this critter up and see if we are supposed to have them around here...I know I have not seen any.
I love the blue color. Wonder why some birds have such beautiful color and other ones are so plain. sandie
He saw you! STOP! I'm glad you didn't!Lindahttp://coloradofarmlife.wordpress.com http://deltacountyhistoricalsociety.wordpress.com
Wonderful sequence of shots.
I'm always surprised by the variety of birds you see there! I've pictured NE Texas as being dry and barren! lol. But your pond attracts some very cool birdies.

Fantastic as usual. Have they ran out of fish to eat yet?
Looks like you did aggravate him just a little, Tex!Great pictures!Jo

Dearest Theresa,You must have a surrounding of birds heaven p;) Recently whenever we go pass the small river near my father's care-house by car, I check if I can find the heron there. Great series! Seems to me a camera friendly guy!
Hello Theresa,Very nice shots of this fishing Heron. This heron is very special for me, because I've never seen this one before. Many greetings and have a good sunday,Marco
Nice action shots TWG. I thought these little herons skulked away out of sight a lot of the time.
You get such a great variety of birds!!!
The yellow crowned blends in so well with the bluish gray of the dead wood, brush,or weeds that if you were only looking about casually, he/she could be missed. Nice shots of the bird.
Beautiful bird! I love his yellow crown!
And, yet another I've never seen. we do have a Black-crowned Night Heron that I've seen two or three times at Reifel Bird Sanctuary. We don't go there so often as dogs aren't permitted, but it's an amazing place. Loved the comment by Pix. It would apply to me as well :)
One of the herons I've never seen. Beautiful bird!
