Always new gates and gate adornments cropping up around here. On the way to the feed store one day, I caught the Texas flag colors out of the corner of my eye. Had to stop, back up and pull over. All I had was my cell phone (it also took yesterday's windmill shots).
I thought the wild boar skull was a really nice touch, especially on that weathered wood.

Such a cool gate!!
Bardzo oryginalna ozdoba bramy. Pozdrawiam cieplutko.
A very original decoration of the gate. Regards warm.
I think I like it!
Very nice gate adonment!
Morning Tex I never even imagined what it was. Never seen one of those before. Your cellphone is awesome. B
Love this gate adornment. Pretty snazzy out of stuff you have around the ranch! Good shots... those phones are so handy
I'm not sure why I'm saying this but.. . . that gate is so cool! I want it. :)
oh i like this one a lot!
Morning, well, love the rustic look but not really the Boars scull, I 'm just that kinda gal, :)Francine.
For a second or two I thought it was a horse skull!
I will have to share and show this to my husband! :)
Dearest Theresa,
Oh, they change their gate adornments often. Sure sounds exciting☆☆☆
It sure must have caught your eyes.
Sending you lots of love and hugs from Japan to my American photographer friend, xoxo Miyako*
Nothing says Welcome like a wild boar's sckull
Texans love to express themselves
Yes, very inviting. Like, I just KNOW we're going to be friends. :-)
Love the weathered wood flag....guess not being from Texas, the skull is....different!
That sure is different! :))
Kind of a medieval 'Keep Out or else'? I like it!
That skull would keep me out. The grass looks so green. Everything is still brown around here in NJ.
First time seeing a Texas flag in your blog. The skull looks like horse.
Great touch with the skull.
I collect and like weird stuff...that is weird and I like it.
the boar head actually looks happy to see you... has a smile on its face... and i can't believe your phone took the windmill . wow
What great pictures you take with your cell phone! I am still learning how to get good shots with mine. I guess that is a real skull... spooky! :-)
Wow~ that is pretty cool! I would have stopped for a closer look too. (and a picture!)
Oh, that's a bit gruesome - but nice if you like that kind of thing, I guess.
Original it certainly is. Could I do that with squirrels? Have a terrific Thursday.
Best wishes Molly
Cool folk art sign!
some one likes to spruce things up around the fence & farm. ( :
Some simple; some not so much. Was this Georgia O'Keeffe's winter hangout? hahaha
Are the boards a Texas flag?
What - a fence with a skull of an animal .... a little creepy) Hanne Bente
Don't you love it when you find cool little gems like this. Great shot!!
You and Marie always have the neatest fence shots...or maybe I should say most unique.
Very great skull Theresa!. indeed unique touch for a gate.
have a good day
I've gotta say, that flag is pretty but the skull freaks me out just a bit! :)
The skull is a nice touch. Good find!
Well, it should make giving directions to friends and family easier. :)
Have to give it an A+ for being unique!
So much better than the same old steer head. The next big pig we sent to the locker will get this treatment. LOVE your eye
Kinda cool, kinda creepy!
would scare me off for sure!
Way cool! I love it on the weathered wood.
Wall art for my study!
Great looking skull!! There are times I'd love to have one on my front door!!
Poor me.. I have such a hard time with the concept of killing anything :) The skull is truly beautiful on that fence but I wouldn't be able to have it there. Loved that you stopped, pulled over, got out that very efficient phone and caught the photo.
Well, it's certainly different!
Thank goodness for decent cameras on our cell phones these days! I like the gate.
Nice find! Gates as art!
I'm glad you moved in for a closer view of the skull and the weathered wood. A very different gate decoration.
Great to Friday Fences, Theresa... The skull does add something to that flag and gate.
Hugs,
Betsy
That "is" a nice touch. I like it too! That's pretty good quality photos from your cell phone. I rarely ever use mine.
hier moet je toch maar opkomen.
You spot the greatest gates!
I have a feeling your neighbors have caught on to your great fence and other farm images. They are probably out there in the middle of the night putting up new things, then waiting for you to come along, take pictures, and feature them on your blog. ;) Pretty cool, huh!
love the skull/head ...
A pretty good and creative artistic touch!
i am a little worried that i like this so much!!
i never leave home without my camera but i'm not so sure you need that fancy nikon ;))))
Wow! What an interesting gate ornament :) Great pictures, I love what you find while driving around.
Dearest Theresa,
What an idea for putting up a wild boar's skull. Great for spotting this!
Hugs,
Mariette
Woah! That's really neat. I've never seen anything like it. Very creative!
:) Welcome To Texas!
Very rustic
On closer inspection this tells us a good story. Why a pig's skull?
Oh you are so good with your find, and that's really a fantastic adornment!
Now that is one creative fence decoration. Wow! Very interesting.
T, that's definitely one of a kind!
What a head :-)
I love wild boar, alive and kicking. Nice pictures as well.
I like this rustic entry!
Wow that wild boar skull would scare the bejesus out of intruders lol.
Well this is a first. Never seen a skeleton attached to the Texas flag, or any flag for that matter. My dad would love something like this on Mississippi's flag (he collects skulls). His wife will kill me if I show this to him, so I won't. But I think it's very cool!
Nothing like Texas decor.
Great spot and a good camera too ,i love the close up of the skull, Thats a proper gate adornment.
peter
Nice gate Tex!Beautiful pictures!!
Dimi..
That is certainly unique!
Define "just down the road"...down in Texas that means miles!!?..:)JP
And let this be a warning to all wild boars...Do Not Enter Here! ;)
And here I thought it was Texasaurus Rex. :)
Your cellphone camera runs circles around mine. Either that or I am definitely doing something wrong. Every picture I take comes out blurred. Nice wood on that gate sign...Not sure about the skull!
Now, THAT'S what I'd call a Texas fence!! I do believe it is the first real 3-D one I've seen!! blessings ~ tanna
Ummmmm - this New England gal is not too sure about a skull sticking out of a fence... It does make for a very cool photo! :-)
That's primitive art! Probably valuable.
That is soon cool that gate. The skull reminds me of the Georgia O'Keefe art .
Sorry, but I'm not too fond of skulls as part of my decorating scheme!
I think some clever person has too much time on his/her hands. :)
Now that is a unique (and resourceful) sign! Great find!!
That is too freaky for me!
C o o l
Hanging around your blog is showing just how serious people there are about their gates and fences. And there is a beauty and sense of humor in all that. This is kinda cool. Somebody took the time to put that whole thing together.
Love it!! :)
Very, rustic... I did say rustic didn't I?? Lol...
Hi Tex, Sure enjoy all your posts about Texas gates and fences. You've given it a whole new dimension for me. Keep an eye on John's Island as my next post will have something special for Texans. :-) John
Holy Moly that was unusual!
the skull is eye catchy...
whoooaa
The Weathered Wood with the "Heart of Texas" has it!
It seems to be smiling!
I like this weathered wood sign also...and the wild boar skull on it. I'm glad you told me it was a wild boar...I was wondering. :-)
Well, that is an interesting entry into someone's place. I like the old wood, just not real crazy about the boar's skull.
What a great catch!
Right at first I thought it was a horse skull!

Great use of old skulls.
Probably not a place to picket for Animal Rights.
Very different for sure.

Texans have the coolest stuff on their gates!
Love this!
Blessings,
Gert
PS Glad you backed up and took a picture of this gate!
Great shots!
Worth the stop you took.
I love the fence, But the head looks a little bit creepy to me..
Texans definitely get creative!
Well that's just a little bit creepy.. but cool. :)
Great photos. Never underestimate your cell, If it wasn't for it, you wouldn't hav ben able to snap those photos.
Wow! Cool sign!
Love the old wooden flag, but not so sure about the skull. Doesn't exactly inspire confidence.
I like the folk artsy look of the sign!
It's strangely beautiful. xx
Or beautifully strange. xx
Indeed, very special!
I like to :)
that's very unique
That'a unique sign, LOL!
That is quite the gate decoration!
Like the boar skull.
I like that...wild boars head and all.
i admit, this creeps me out a little bit. ;)
All time favorite of your Texas fences and gates, TWG. Even the skull since it's probably against the law for Texans to get too "crafty" in their decorations? :-)
I like it! Cool, unique, and ominous all in one! Certainly different!
Interesting. Do you see a lot of gate ornamentation? That is the first I have seen one decorated. Love the weathered wood. The skull wouldn't be my first choice but then again, it's not my gate!
hmm...interesting fence decoration..
Sort of scary.
Yikes.
To each there own right.
